"After praying to Naaraayana, Nara, Sarasvathi and Vyaasa, then one should read the Jayam."

DEDICATED TO MY DEAR NIECE VYSHNAVI KRISHNA

UPAPLAAVYAM or Upaplavyam

(The L in this name is pronounced like 'l' in 'lip'. The Y is pronounced like 'y' in 'you'. )

Upaplaavyam was the name of a city in the Paanchaalam province of king Drupada.

After their exile and Abhimanyu's marriage, Paandavas lived in this city nearly for a year, preparing for the war. It is from here that Krishna went to Hasthipuram for conciliatory talks and returned. The path that he took then is named Hariyaanam (=Krishna's travel) and corresponds to modern Haryana region.
