YAVANAS

( The Y in this name is a consonant and is pronounced like 'y' in 'you'. N is pronounced like 'N'in 'not' . The last s shows plural number, as a race is generally referred in plural number. )

Yavanas were people of one of the many races mentioned in Mahaabhaaratham. They were primely of the regions to the wetern most provinces and beyond.

In the later periods, all the people belonging to those countries are generally termed Yavanas. It also meant Greeks and Tturks. .
