Vasus are one of the prime batches of gods. They dwell in the heaven along with the batches Rudras and Aadithyas.

Vasus are eight in number. They were born to a Prajaapathi named Deva or (Devamuni) from his seven wives. They are

• 1. Dhara, born to Dhomra (Dravina and Huthahavyavaha are his sons.).
• 2. Dhruva, born to Brahmavidya (Kaala is his son.).
• 3. Soma, born to Manasvini (Manohara is his wife. Varchas, Shibira, Praana and Ramana are his sons. Pritha is his daughter.).
• 4. Ahu, born to Ratha (Jyothish is his son.).
• 5. Anila, born to Shvasa (Shiva is his wife. Manojava and Avijnaathagathi are his sons.).
• 6. Agni, born to Shaandili (Kumaara is his son.).
• 7. Prathyusha, born to Prabhaatha (Devala is his son. He is a sage.).
• 8. Prabhaasa, born to Prabhaatha ,mentioned above. (Yogasiddhi is his wife and Vishvakarma is his son.).
