The word Thrigartha means " land of three craters " .
Thrigartha was the name of a country in the vicinity of the Kuru country . Its ruler at the time of Mahaabhaaratham was Susharma . Susharma and his four brothers were trusted allies of the Kourava side . They were referred to as Thrigarthas and specifically in the war, as Samahapthakas too.
