Suraashtra was one of the countries sorrounding Kuru state . Corresponding to present day Souraashtra region . The word Suraashtra means, literally , " a good state " .
The province is mentioned in viraata parva and Ashvamedha parva too. Given the sequence of places given along with this in Ashvamedha parva, it seems that this name roughly corresponds to present Souraashtra of Gujaraath ( only a guess!).
