The word 'sthree' means 'woman'. 'Sthree Parva' means 'Parva of or relating to the women'. This parva describes how Gaandhaari and the other women wail about their dead people. Importaint incidents are - Krishna and Vyaasa's consoling of the old couple Dhritharaashtra and Gaandhaari, The women folk of Hasthipuram going to the war-field, Gaandhaari's vision of the dead people, Her lamentation about her sons and other heroes, Gaandhaari's anger, her curse to Krishna, offering of water to the dead, Kunthi's revealing of Karna's birth secret, Yudhishthira's grief over that, his cursing the entire women folk and entry of paandavas into Hasthipuram.
