Shathayoops was a sage who formerly had been a king of Kekaya provinces. Sahasrachithya was his grand-father.
When Dhritharaashtra retired to the forests , he settled at Shathayoopa's hermitage who administerd him into the order of hermits. Naarada talked to Dhritharaashtra about Shathayoopa and his grand-father .
"After praying to Naaraayana, Nara, Sarasvathi and Vyaasa, then one should read the Jayam."
