SHATHAYOOPA

(The 'sh' inthis name is pronounced like one between 's' in sun' and 'sh' in 'shut'. The 'th' is pronounced like 'th' in 'with'. The Y is pronounced like 'y' in 'you'. )

Shathayoops was a sage who formerly had been a king of Kekaya provinces. Sahasrachithya was his grand-father.

When Dhritharaashtra retired to the forests , he settled at Shathayoopa's hermitage who administerd him into the order of hermits. Naarada talked to Dhritharaashtra about Shathayoopa and his grand-father .

"After praying to Naaraayana, Nara, Sarasvathi and Vyaasa, then one should read the Jayam."
