Nishaadas one of the many races mentioned in Mahaabhaaratham. They were primely foresters. They were collectively named Nishaadas as a race or creed. Their region was referred to as Nishaada province. Also, in singular number, Nishaada means a person belonging to that creed of Nishaadas.

Ekalavya was a prominent Nishaada .

After the war, when Yudhishthira undertook performance of Ashvamedham, Arjuna went with the sacrificial horse for its protection. During that expedition, the Nishaadas fought with him fiercely, under the leadership of Ekalavya's son. In the end, they surrendered to him .
