NAKULA (Daamagranthi)

(The N in this name is pronounced like 'n'in 'nut'. The L is pronounced like 'l'in 'luck'. )

Nakula was the one of the twin sons of Maadri and Paandu. Sahadeva was his twin brother. These two together with the three sons of Paandu and Kunthi were called Paandavas. Both Nakula and Sahadeva were manifestations of the divine doctors Asvi gods.

Nakula was considered the most handsome personality. He was very obedient to Yudhishthira like his other brothers. His role in the Mahaabhaaratham was not that prominent as Bheema's or Arjuna's. He undertook the western campaign before their Raajasooya. Through Droupadi,he had a son named Shathaaneeka who was killed by Asvaththaama on the 18 th day night.

In the end, he followed Yudhishthira in the renunciation walk and fell dead midway.

His obedience to his elder half-brothers and clean fraternity shown were really commendable. He absorbed with the Gods Ashvis, like his twin brother Sahadeva.

"After praying to Naaraayana, Nara, Sarasvathi and Vyaasa, then one should read the Jayam."
