MANIPURAM

( The 'n' in this name is pronounced like 'n' in 'morning' .)

Manipuram was a kingdom ( capital city ia also called Manipuram) in the southern part of epic Bhaarath during the times of Mahaabhaaratham. It was ruled by Chithravaahana. Arjuna visited this place during his twelve year tour and married Chithravaahana's daughter Chithraangada through whom he got a son Babhruvaahana. Babhruvaahana remained with his maternal grandfather to rule their kingdom. He did not participate in the war. But, he was later to fight against his father at Manipuram, when Arjuna went guarding the sacrificial horse. In that fight, Babhruvaahana killed his father but Uloopi revived him.
