KYLAASA

( The 'l' in this name is pronounced like 'l' in 'lip' and 's' like 's' in 'sip'.)

Kylaasa was a peak of mountain in the Himaalayas. Lord Shiva resides there. That mount is treated as the most sacred to the mortals. Raavana once tried to lift it off and met with an insult, getting his hands clutched under it.

All the gods and demi-gods often visit this mount to pay their respects to Lord Shiva and to get his blessings. This mount is often referred to as 'silver mount' as it looks white, covered by snow and clouds. The most sacred lake Maanasam lies near Kylaasam.

The unfortunate thing is that this part of the land belonged to our country in earlier times but now, owing to our incompetent political leadership, that area is under the control of China and we need their permission to visit that place!
