( The SH in this name is pronounced like one between 's' in 'sip' and 'sh' in 'ship' . The Y is a consonant here and is pronounced like 'y' in 'you'.)

(Do not confuse with the one Braahmana named Kaashyapa, who was referred to in aadi parva, as an expert curer of snake bite, gifted by Brahma with an art of reviving the beings killed due to snake-bite or with another Braahmana of the same name about whom Krishna mentioned to Arjuna while giving him a philosophical discourse, in Ashvamedhaparva.) Other persons of the same name Kashyapa were :
1. Vasudeva's priest who brought gifts to Paandu and Kunthi when the Paandavas were born.
2.A sage to whom Parashuraama donated all the earth as a gift, mentioned in Aadi parva, while Parashuraama was Talking to drona.
3. a sage among the group of sages that went to Brahma for learning. Mentioned in Ashvamedha parva.

Kashyapa was one of the Prajaapathis. He was the son of Mareecha (or Mareechi) who himself was a son of Brahma. Kashyapa had thirteen wives- Adithi,Dithi,Vinatha, Kadru,Simhika, Kaala, Anaayush, Muni, Kapila, Krodha, Praadha,Kroora and Danu. The various expansions of creation from Kashyapa and his wives was as following.

Adithi Aadithyas 12 Aadithyas: Dhaatha,Mithra,Aryama,Shakra,Varuna,Amshu or Amsha, Bhaga,Vivasvaan, Poosha, Savitha, Thvashta, Vishnu
Dithi Demons named Dythyas: Hiranyakashipu etc His lineage: Prahlaada,Virochana,Bali,Baana etc
Danu 40 Demons named Daanavas Viprachiththi,Shambara, Puloma etc.
Kaala 8 sons : Vinaashana, Krodha etc. A sect of demons
Anaayuh 4 sons : Vikshara,Bala,Veera,Vrithra Bala and Vrithra were killed by Indra.
Simhika Raahu Failed in gaining ambrosia,Killed by Vishnu. Swallows Son and Moon on eclipse days.
Muni 16 Gandharvas Chithrasena, Bheemasena, Ugrasena etc
Kapila Ambrosia,Braahmanas,Cows,Apsaras(14, Menaka etc) Menaka etc are the divine damsels.
Vinatha Anooru, Garuda Bird Lords.
Krodha Krodhavashas A group of demi-gods
Praadha Siddhas A group of demi-gods
Kroora Suchandra, Chandrahantha etc. Demons
Kadru Naagas i.e.Serpents: Shesha, Vaasuki etc Many unimportant naagas were burnt in Janamejaya's serpent sacrifice

Adithi also gave birth to Vaamana (6 th incarnation of Vishnu).
