This Parva describes the war of 16 th and 17 th days under Karna's leadership of the kourava side. Many importaint incidents ocured in these two days. Duryodhana's appointing Karna as chief general, Karna's fierce valour, Ashvaththaama's surprising attacks on Arjuna, rifts among Kripa, Ashvaththaama and Karna, Karna's selection of Shalya as his driver, Shalya's jeering at Karna, Karna's insultng of Yudhishthira, Yudhishthira's fleeing from the war, Yudhishthira's chiding of Arjuna, Arjuna's anger on Yudhishthira, Krisha's pacification of Yudhiahthira and Arjuna, Bheema's defeating of Karna, Bheema's Killing of Dushshaasana, Arjuna's killing of Karna's son Vrishasena, Fight between Karna and Arjuna, Karna's miserable state in war and Arjuna's kulling of karna are the major incidents. It is said that Karna could inflict more destruction on the paandavas in these two days than Bheeshma and Drona both together could do in their leadership of 10 and 5 days respectively.
