HOTHRAVAAHANA

( The 'TH' in this name is pronounced like 'th' in 'with' and the N like 'n' in 'no'.)

Hothravaahana was a former king. He was grandfather of Amba, the princess of Kaashi provinces. When Amba was rejected by her lover Saalva and she took to the hermitages in a distressed mood, Hothravaahana accosted her and advised her to take the help of Parashuraama. In fact, as Parashuraama himself happened to go there to see him , he explained her story to her and urged upon him to help her by correcting bheeshma's adamance.

"After praying to Naaraayana, Nara, Sarasvathi and Vyaasa, then one should read the Jayam."
