HARIVAMSHAM or KHILA-PARVA

Harivamsham means 'lineage of Krishna' ( Hari=Krishna, vamsham=dynasty> . A book of around 25000 shlokas with this name is considered to be the appendix of the Mahaabhaaratham. Thus this is called the khila-parva, meaning appendix. Many readers continue the study of Mahaabhaaratham till the end of this Harivamsham.

This book mainly describes some part of Krishna's life that was not dealt with in detail in the main epic. Taken together with this Harivamsham , the Mahaabhaaratham runs to a whopping 1 25 000 shlokas.

We placed this appendix for the benefit of the readers of Mahaabhaaratham and also for the wholeness of the translation.
