DEDICATED TO MY DEAR NIECE VYSHNAVI KRISHNA

DVAARAKA ( Also Dvaaravathi or Dvaaraavathi )

( The D in this name is pronounced like 'th' in 'brother'. In the alternative names, th is pronounced like th in 'with'. )

Dvaaraka was the water-bound city , constructed by Visvakarma, the divine architect , on Krishna's orders .Krishna left Madhura to be safe and away from Jaraasandha's attacks . He obtained certain area of land from the sea God and got this city built there . After Krishna's passing away , the city was inundated by the sea as if it were taken back by its donor .

Very recently ,NASA's pictures identified the existence of a drowned city in the western coast of India , around the place where the ancient Dvaaraka existed . Research remains to be done , thanks to our government's indifference towards such important aspects too .
