DUSHSHAASANA

( the D in the beginning of this name is pronounced like 'th' in 'brother'. The two SH's are pronounced like one between 's' in 'sand' and 's' in 'shaft. The N is pronounced like 'n' in 'nut'.)

Dushshaasana was one of the 100 kouravas. He was a blind follower of his elder brother Duryodhana. He owns a major share of the guilt of disrobing Droupadi in the midst of the open court hall. He was one of the quartet of villians of Mahaabhaaratham ( Duryodhana, Shakuni and Karna were the other three).

He too suffered Bheema's ragging in the childhood and bore a grudge against him. He had been sincerely faithful to his elder brother Duryodhana. Never did he hesitate to execute his brother's orders, whatever they were. The disrobing incident made Bheema indignant and vowed to rip open the chest of Dushshaasana and to drink his blood. In the war, Dushshaasana fought bravely. On the nineth day, in his efforts to save the grandsire from Arjuna's attacks, he could even hold Arjuna for a while. Though he was not a match to Bheema, he stood before him till the end. However, he was defeated in the war several times by many opponents like Abhimanyu, Saathyaki,Arjuna and Dhrishtadyumna. On the 17th day of the war, he was killed by Bheema as was vowed .Neither Karna nor any other stalwarts of his side could stand guard to him .

All he did made him incur everybody's disfavour as just a notorious supporter of Duryodhana.

Modern day boys have a lot to learn - how not to behave - from his character.
