This was the capital city of Mathsya state ruled by king Viraata .
The Paandavas chose this city to live during the 13 th year of exile i.e. year of incognito.
After that term was succesfully over and they disclosed themselves to the pleasure of king
Viraata , Paandavas moved to the city
Upaplaavya which too belonged to
Viraata , from where they started their efforts of consolidating their allies in preparation for a possible war.
