Another woman of this name is - one of the wives of one of the prajaapathis.
Shaandiliwas a woman ascetic. She was very powerful by virtue of her penances. Once Garuda was taking his friend Gaalava around the world in search of a peculiarly featured horses. In the way, they saw a woman ascetic named Shaandili. She offered them good food and theyrested there for a while having a deep sleep too. Garuda thought of taking that woman to some safe place as he thought that the old woman alone cannot live safe in the forest. But when he woke up, he found all the quills of his wings were fallen off. He could not fly at all as earlier. Gaalava suggested that any ill thoughts of Garuda mighta have caused him that damage. But Garuda confessed to the old ascetic woman that all he thought of was abouther safety but no offence was meant to her or her powers. She laughed and endowed his wings as usual. Garuda and Gaalava saluted her and left.
