Apsaras sre divine damsels. They are of fourteen types from their various sources. They were primarily born from the milk sea when it was churned for nectar. They were given to Indra to sport the celestials in the heaven.

The Apsaras Anoochaana, Anavadya, Gunamukhya, Gunaavara, Adrika, Soma, Mishrakeshi, Alambusha, Mareechi, Shuchika, Vidyuthparna, Thiloththama, Ambika, Lakshana, Kshema, Devi, Rambhaa, Manorama, Asitha, Subaahu, Supriya, Vapus, Pundareeka, Sugandha, Surasa, Pramaathini, Kaamya and Shaaradvathi danced in batches.
Menaka, Sahajanya, Karnika, Punjikasthala, Rithusthala, Ghrithaachi, Vishvaachi, Poorvachiththi, Umlocha, Pramlocha and Oorvashi sang for these dancers.
