( The D in this name is pronounced like 'th'in 'brother'. The TH is pronounced like 'th'in 'with'. )
Adithi was the mother of a gods and a sect of celestials named Aadithyas, twelve in number.
She was one of the fifty daughters of a Prajaapathi( ie born from Brahma ) named Daksha.
A male named Daksha and a female named Dharani ( or Dhaarini )were born from the big toes of Brahma's right and left feet respectively. From these two, the creation was done.
Daksha and Dharani first had a thousand sons but they did not take part in creation, preferring penance. Late Daksha had fifty daugters. From them, he gave twenty seven ( Ashvini ti Revathi) to Chandra, thirteen to Kashyapa ( See the link Kashyapa) and ten to Dharma. Kashyapa was the prajaapathi who primarily expanded the creation through his thirteen wives. Among his ten wives, Adithi gave birth to Aadithyas or gods, Dithi gave birth to Dythyas ( a sect of demons), Danu gave birth to Daanavas ( a sect of demons), vinatha gave birth to Anooru and Garuda, Kadru gave birth to Serpents. Other wives gave birth to Apsaras, Siddhaas etc.
